An official Census 2011 detail of Hamirpur, a district of Himachal Pradesh has been released by the Directorate of Census Operations in Himachal Pradesh. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Hamirpur District of Himachal Pradesh.

In 2011, Hamirpur had a population of 454,768 of which males and females were 217,070 and 237,698 respectively. In the 2001 census, Hamirpur had a population of 412,700 of which males were 196,593 and the remaining 216,107 were females. Hamirpur District population constituted 6.62 percent of the total Maharashtra population. In the 2001 census, this figure for Hamirpur District was at 6.79 percent of Maharashtra population.

There was a change of 10.19 percent in the population compared to the population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Hamirpur District recorded an increase of 11.80 percent to its population compared to 1991.

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Hamirpur district for 2011 is 407 people per sq. km. In 2001, Hamirpur district density was at 369 people per sq. km. Hamirpur district administers 1,118 square kilometers of areas.

LITERACY RATE

The average literacy rate of Hamirpur in 2011 was 88.15 compared to 82.46 of 2001. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy were 94.36 and 82.62 respectively. For the 2001 census, the same figures stood at 90.15 and 75.70 in Hamirpur District. Total literate in Hamirpur District were 358,091 of which male and female were 180,555 and 177,536 respectively. In 2001, Hamirpur District had 298,498 in its district.

SEX RATIO

With regards to Sex Ratio in Hamirpur, it stood at 1095 per 1000 male compared to the 2001 census figure of 1099. Child Sex Ratio as per census 2011 was 887 compared to 850 of census 2001. In 2011, Children under 0-6 formed 10.68 percent of Hamirpur District compared to 12.28 percent of 2001. There was a net change of -1.6 percent in this compared to the previous census of India.

In 2011, total of 47 families live on footpath or without any roof cover in the Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh. Total Population of all who lived without a roof at the time of Census 2011 numbers to 213. This approx 0.05% of the total population of Hamirpur district.

Out of the total Hamirpur population for the 2011 census, 6.91 percent lives in urban regions of the district. In total 31,430 people lives in urban areas of which males are 16,322 and females are 15,108. The Sex Ratio in the urban region of Hamirpur district is 926 as per 2011 census data. Similarly, the child sex ratio in Hamirpur district was 907 in the 2011 census. Child population (0-6) in urban region was 2,923 of which males and females were 1,533 and 1,390. This child population figure of the Hamirpur district is 9.39 % of the total urban population. The average literacy rate in Hamirpur district as per census 2011 is 92.51 % of which males and females are 95.15 % and 89.66 % literates respectively.
